Advocacy

Support safe, sustainable and affordable building materials for Massachusetts families.

In the fall of 2017, the MaCAPA Board of Directors voted unanimously to create an advocacy arm of the association. MaCAPA acquired the services of The Glodis Group to represent and advocate for the ready-mix industry in Massachusetts. We hit the ground running with an aggressive strategy towards representing our industry in the political arena, weighing in on legislation that potentially could be detrimental to our members and filing our first piece of legislation called “Life Cycle Cost for Long Term Pavement Solutions”. This bill has successfully gone through the state’s joint transportation committee’s twice in the last 2 legislative sessions.

In the Summer of 2019, the Board also voted unanimously to create a Political Action Committee (PAC).

We established the PAC in the fall of 2019 named “Concrete Producers of Massachusetts Political Action Committee”. Through contributions, we raised funds to support legislators and efforts the further our industry. If you would like to make a financial contribution the PAC, please call the MaCAPA office at 1-508-320-9070, or simply mail a check to The Concrete Producers of Massachusetts Political Action Committee, P.O. Box 165 Grafton, MA. 01519.

In February of 2019 with support from the NRMCA Build with Strength team, we filed a second piece of legislation, Senate bill 51799, “an Act to further regulating Light Weight Frame Residential Construction”. The Legislative group at Tenax Strategies joined our team and together with MaCAPA, The Glodis Group and the NRMCA Build with Strength team, have built a coalition and successfully brought the bill through the state’s Public Safety Committee in the fall of 2019.

The advocacy effort for our industry has become an important part of what we do here! We will continue advocate for our industry to make sure we have a place at the table and a voice on Beacon Hill.
